About
Mr Mayur Chawda is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the full spectrum of hip and knee surgery, with 18 years of consultant experience across North Wales, Chester and the Wrexham area.
He holds a private practice at Nuffield Health, The Grosvenor Hospital, Chester, and an NHS consultant post at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he also provides trauma surgery as part of the on‑call rota.
Mr Chawda has experience of performing more than 4000 hip and knee replacements during his career so far and he is well versed with latest techniques by keeping himself constantly updated with the technological advances.
With extensive UK training including six years of Specialist Registrar training on the Leeds based Yorkshire deanery rotation followed by international fellowship training of 12 months, specialising in advanced hip and knee surgery in Brisbane (Australia), he is well versed with all aspects of Joint replacement surgery.
The 6 months Fellowship in Hanover (Germany) gave him a unique European perspective to his field of work. His foundations in orthopaedics precedes all of these with three years as an Orthopaedic Resident trainee for his MS Orth degree and 18 months as a junior registrar fellowship work in research lab in the university, working on computer assisted orthopaedic surgery during years 1998-2000.

A committed educator, Mr Chawda is actively involved in training Specialist Registrars from the Oswestry and Wales rotations in hip and knee surgery. He has been nominated by trainees on 3 occasions for Trainer of Year award, in recognition of his commitment and work for training of future generation of Orthopaedic surgeons.
He also holds significant respect for his clinical work amongst his 14 consultant and managerial colleagues at Ysbyty Gwynedd by way of his high-quality service provision and participation in clinical governance activities.
His practice style is grounded in sound clinical judgement, careful decision‑making, and a commitment to evidence‑based orthopaedic care.
