About
Matthew graduated from Birmingham University Medical School in 1995 and undertook surgical training in the West Midlands. He was awarded the Thomas Wickham Jones travelling fellowship and spent 12 months at the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital and Bionic Ear Institute in Melbourne Australia during 2007. During this period Matthew developed a subspecialist interest in ear and hearing problems. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and completed a postgraduate Masters degree at Warwick University in 2007.
Matthew was appointed as an ENT Consultant in 2008 and works at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he is the Clinical Lead of the ENT Department.
He has undergone comprehensive training in the medical and surgical management of adult and children's ear, nose (allergies, blockage and sinus conditions) and throat conditions including problems with voice, snoring and swallowing.
In addition, Matthew is able to offer a specialist service in otology (ear, hearing and balance problems) in both adults and children. He undertakes all the major hearing restoration surgery including stapedectomy (for otosclerosis), tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty and cholesteatoma surgery.

Personal interests
Matthew is married with two children. Outside Hospital he enjoys entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He is a keen cyclist, enjoys skiing and is a touchline enthusiast at Rugby and cricket.
