- Overview
About
Mr Kunal Rathod is a Consultant in Complex Benign Gynaecology at an NHS tertiary referral centre, specialising in advanced minimally invasive surgery. He trained in minimally access surgery for benign gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis and fibroids, at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and in reproductive medicine at King’s College Hospital, after which he was appointed to his current substantive post at Queen’s Hospital, Romford.
Over six years as a consultant and eighteen years in obstetrics and gynaecology, Mr Rathod has led high-volume surgical lists, performing complex laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures.
His expertise encompasses total laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with multiple prior laparotomies, laparoscopic multi-fibroid myomectomy—removing up to 32 fibroids in a single operation—and laparoscopic excision of deep infiltrating endometriosis with ureterolysis, pararectal space dissection, and nerve-sparing rectosigmoid resection. He is equally proficient in complex adhesiolysis, pelvic peritonectomy, and laparoscopic cerclage.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Mr Rathod designs multidisciplinary training programmes and supervises junior surgeons. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at national and international congresses.
