About

Mr Afifi is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with extensive specialist training across the UK, Egypt and Germany. Since graduating in 1986, he has gained broad expertise in all major areas of gynaecology, with advanced accreditation in both Urogynaecology and benign vaginal surgery.

Following completion of his Advanced Training Skills Modules, he was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecologist at New Cross Hospital, where he is an integral member of the Urogynaecology team. His practice includes weekly urogynaecology and urodynamics clinics, as well as dedicated theatre sessions for the management of complex pelvic floor and urogynaecological conditions.

Alongside this, Mr Afifi has a strong interest in infertility and reproductive medicine, having previously worked at the London Fertility Centre under Professor Ian Craft, where he trained in all aspects of fertility treatment. He also has specialist expertise in early pregnancy care, particularly recurrent miscarriage — the focus of his MSc thesis.

Mr Afifi is also highly trained in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, with substantial experience in treating endometriosis, ovarian cysts, adhesions and a wide range of benign gynaecological conditions.

He is an associate member of both the British Society of Urogynaecology and the International Urogynaecology Association, and has contributed to the academic field through numerous publications, textbook chapters and presentations at international conferences.
