About
Mr Lim is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 20 years of specialist practice in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has focused solely on hip and knee surgery since 2000 and is well known for his expertise in joint replacement, detailed surgical planning, and enhanced recovery techniques.
He is an active member of the British Hip Society (BHS), the British Association for Surgeons of the Knee (BASK) and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.
In 2006, Mr Lim was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal Stoke University Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. Since then, he has developed an excellent reputation among patients and colleagues for his clinical skill, patient‑focused approach, and strong leadership. He has also held several senior clinical leadership roles within the organisation.
Education, Training and Fellowships
Mr Lim began medical school at the age of 17 and graduated five years later from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, in 1995. He completed his basic surgical training in South Wales, followed by further experience in major teaching hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham.
He undertook higher specialist orthopaedic training as a Specialist Registrar on the respected Oswestry and Stoke rotation, an internationally recognised programme known for excellence in orthopaedic surgery.
During his specialist training, Mr Lim expanded his expertise through:
- A postgraduate Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering,
- A senior Hip and Knee Surgery Fellowship in Oswestry, and
- An international Orthopaedic Fellowship in Singapore.
This extensive and advanced training forms the foundation of
his evidence‑based, technically precise approach to modern hip and knee joint
replacement surgery.

Other interests
Mr Lim has a particular interest in in minimising blood loss in surgery, use of computerised templating and surgical planning to improve the accuracy of implantation of joint replacements, use of ceramic and advanced polyethylene bearing materials for joint replacements and Enhanced Recovery Techniques for pain control and early mobilisation. His approach aims to reduce complications, shorten hospital stays, and help patients return to normal activity as quickly and safely as possible.
