About
Mr Lim is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over two decades of specialist practice in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has been specialising exclusively in hip and knee surgery since 2000 and is widely recognised for his expertise in joint replacement surgery, advanced surgical planning, and enhanced recovery techniques.
He is a respected member of the British Hip Society (BHS), the British Association for Surgeons of the Knee (BASK), and the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), reflecting his commitment to the highest professional and clinical standards in orthopaedic care.
In 2006, Mr Lim was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal Stoke University Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. Since his appointment, he has built an outstanding reputation among both patients and professional colleagues for his clinical expertise, leadership, patient‑centred care and has held several senior leadership roles.
Education, Training and Fellowships
Mr Lim entered medical school at the exceptional age of 17, graduating 5 years later from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, in 1995. He completed his basic surgical training in South Wales before gaining further experience in major teaching hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham.
He went on to undertake his higher specialist orthopaedic training as a Specialist Registrar on the prestigious Oswestry and Stoke rotation, internationally recognised for excellence in orthopaedic surgery.
During this period, Mr Lim further enhanced his expertise by
completing an additional postgraduate master’s degree in Orthopaedic
Engineering, a senior Fellowship in Hip and Knee Surgery in Oswestry and an
international fellowship in Singapore. This advanced training underpins his
evidence‑based, technically precise approach to modern joint replacement
surgery.

Other interests
Mr Lim has a particular interest in in minimising blood loss in surgery, use of computerised templating and surgical planning to improve the accuracy of implantation of joint replacements, use of ceramic and advanced polyethylene bearing materials for joint replacements and Enhanced Recovery Techniques for pain control and early mobilisation. His approach aims to reduce complications, shorten hospital stays, and help patients return to normal activity as quickly and safely as possible.
