About
Mr Leong is a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in sports injuries, hip and knee surgeries. He has undergone two prestigious fellowships at Wrightington and Northumbria University Hospitals performing complex primary joint replacements as well as revision surgeries for failing joint replacements. He also has special interest in enhanced recovery and same-day discharges after joint replacements.
His current practice consists of the management of sports knee injuries such as meniscal or ligamental injuries. He also have special interest in joint preservation surgery, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement, total hip and total knee replacements. He specialises in performing hip replacements through muscle (piriformis) sparing approach which will allow for enhanced recovery with improved function during post-operative rehabilitation.
His published research focused on infection prevention in joint replacement surgeries and enhanced knee rehabilitation following surgeries. He is also the lead author for the publication of Revision Hip Complexity Classification (RHCC) along with Experts from the British Hip Society to help with national-level restructuring of the complex hip revision surgery network.
