About

Mr John Edwin is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood, specialising in orthopaedic surgery for shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and general orthopaedic surgery. 
After his medical school and postgraduate training in orthopaedics in India, Mr Edwin proceeded to gain further orthopaedic training at centres of excellence at Liverpool, Exeter and London. Following his FRCS qualification, he has completed four fellowships in complex trauma, Shoulder & Elbow and Wrist & Hand Fellowships at King’s College Hospital, London and at Nottingham.
Mr Edwin specialises in the following: 
Shoulder: Frozen shoulder Manipulation under anaesthetic/ keyhole release surgery, arthroscopic acromioclavicular joint (collarbone) excision, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair/ assisted graft jacket reconstruction for irreparable tears, arthroscopic shoulder decompression, replacement- anatomic and reverse, stabilisation/ Bristow Latarjet procedure for shoulder dislocations, proximal and distal biceps repair and image guided joint injections. 
Elbow: elbow debridement for stiff elbow- O-K procedure, tennis elbow/ golfer’s elbow release, trigger point injections, ulnar nerve decompression, cubital tunnel release.
Hand: ganglion/ mucus cyst excision of wrist/hand, De Quervain’s release, trapeziectomy (thumb arthritis), trigger finger release, Dupuytren’s fasciectomy, wrist arthroscopy, dipj fusion for arthritis and carpal tunnel release.
 

Mr Edwin also specialises in Upper and lower limb fracture management, upper limb tendon and ligament reconstruction due to sport injuries and general lumps and bumps removal.

Mr Edwin is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Basildon University Hospital and the Lead for Neck of Femur fractures. Apart from discharging his duties as an Orthopaedic Consultant within his department, his role as a vital team member during the COVID pandemic at his hospital has been exemplary. 

Mr Edwin is a keen educator and has been appointed as Clinical/ Educational Supervisor for junior orthopaedic trainees. He is an appointed Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New Vision University, Georgia. Additionally, he is a key faculty member in FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedic) courses at Kings College Hospital, Medway Hospital, Luton Hospital, ORUK and the Muller FRCS Course in Chennai, India.

Mr Edwin has strong research credentials and has published numerous scientific papers in international journals. This has led to national and international presentations of his research work and has been well received worldwide. He has also lectured internationally in the United Kingdom, Oman, U.A.E and India. 
With the objective to offer his patients the best and latest care in his subspecialties, Mr Edwin has kept himself abreast with the latest arthroscopic techniques, shoulder replacements and other advances in Upper Limb surgery. He has attended multiple workshops at Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, York, Berlin, London and Davos. He also offers his patients ‘awake shoulder surgery technique’, thus minimizing the risks of general anaesthesia in patients with complex health issues.  With his vast experience, he has developed a well-rounded and holistic approach towards his patients’ health and care keeping in line with the GMC Good Medical Practice.
