About
Mr Mathews is an experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon who works across The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and the Dudley Group of Hospitals. He is highly trained in the full range of ear, nose and throat conditions, as well as head and neck cancers. His specialist interests include sinus disease, nasal polyps, allergies, hearing disorders, ear conditions, glue ear, rhinoplasty (cosmetic and functional), snoring surgery, voice disorders, dizziness and vertigo.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Mathews is deeply committed to medical education. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and teaches on a number of national and international training courses. He also serves as an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and the European Board.
Mr Mathews has undertaken significant research into hearing loss, for which he was awarded an MPhil degree. He contributes actively to the development of ENT services through his roles on the ENT‑UK Education Committee and the NHS Clinical Coding Committee.
His academic work includes numerous publications and international presentations, and he regularly reviews research for leading journals such as Clinical Otolaryngology, the Scottish Medical Journal and the Indian Journal of Otolaryngology.
He is an active member of several professional
organisations, including ENT‑UK, the British Rhinological Society and the
Society of Otology.
