Mr Mahmood is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 15 years’ experience. He practises at NHS Forth Valley and Nuffield Health Glasgow. After specialist training in the North East of England, he completed fellowships in Glasgow, Sheffield and Auckland, New Zealand.

His practice includes total hip and knee replacement, as well as high-volume partial knee replacement. His special interests include minimally invasive hip replacement and robotic-assisted knee replacement. He also treats complex trauma and performs keyhole knee surgery.

He uses a minimally invasive approach for hip replacement and a tourniquet-free technique for knee replacement. These approaches, alongside his enhanced recovery pathway, aim to support early mobilisation and a smoother recovery. Many patients are able to go home on the day of surgery.

Mr Mahmood explains treatment options, benefits, risks and recovery clearly, and agrees a plan with each patient. This may include non-surgical treatment as well as surgery.
