About
Mr Ian Carluke is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery, including both primary and complex revision procedures. He also performs knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) for the diagnosis and treatment of a range of knee conditions.
Mr Carluke has been a consultant within the Trust since 2003, having completed his higher surgical training in the Northern Region. He undertook advanced specialist training in joint replacement surgery in Edinburgh and further developed his expertise through a trauma fellowship in the United States.
His clinical practice is focused on hip and knee arthroplasty, with particular interests in the management of infected joint replacements and the treatment of metastatic bone disease. He is actively involved in research relating to both primary and revision joint replacement surgery, contributing to ongoing improvements in patient outcomes.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Carluke holds several senior leadership roles. He currently serves as Clinical Lead for Primary and Revision Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery, as well as for Metastatic Bone Disease. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
