About
Mr Henry Ferguson is a premier Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital in Leamington Spa. With over two decades of clinical experience, Mr Ferguson has established himself as a leading expert in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, specifically specialising in advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures. As the Clinical Director of General Surgery at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, he is a recognised pioneer in the West Midlands, having performed the first robotic surgery at Warwick Hospital in 2023. This dedication to innovation ensures that his patients benefit from increased surgical precision, reduced pain, and significantly faster recovery times.
His private practice at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital provides expert diagnostic and surgical care for a comprehensive range of abdominal and bowel conditions. Mr Ferguson is a specialist in hernia repair, including inguinal, umbilical, and complex incisional hernias, as well as the management of colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. He also offers a high-access service for proctology, treating haemorrhoids (piles), anal fissures, and fistulas, alongside a highly-regarded endoscopy service. His skill in colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy is backed by exceptional patient satisfaction scores, prioritising both diagnostic accuracy and patient comfort.
The foundation of Mr Ferguson’s expertise is a rigorous academic and research background. After graduating with Honours from Cardiff University, he completed his higher surgical training in the West Midlands and earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Birmingham for his research into colorectal cancer vaccine treatments. He further refined his specialist skills through a prestigious international fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, focusing on complex inflammatory bowel surgery.
Beyond his technical expertise, Mr Ferguson is widely regarded by patients for his empathetic bedside manner and his ability to explain complex medical issues with clarity. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a former President of The Dukes’ Club, the national association for colorectal surgeons. Whether you are seeking a private consultation, a second opinion, or a specialist surgeon, Mr Ferguson is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s unique needs in Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, and the surrounding areas.
