About
Mr. Rayt was appointed as a vascular and endovascular surgeon in Leicester in 2016 working in a centre of excellence, with national and international recognition. He qualified from the University of Leicester Medical School (2002) and completed his surgical training locally followed by a fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He has a wealth of experience in both arterial and venous surgery and offers the options of both open and ‘keyhole’ techniques. He also has an interest in vascular malformations.
Throughout his career he has been involved in advancing vascular surgical knowledge and has contributed to published articles and textbooks. In 2012, he was awarded a higher research (MD) degree looking into abdominal aortic aneurysms and genetics. He is an Honorary Lecturer in the department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester.
Mr. Rayt has a
passion for training and education and is the Core Surgery Training Programme
Director for the East Midlands. He is the course director for the Royal College
of Surgeons’ ‘Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient’ course and also acts
as faculty on national courses including the ‘Basic Surgical Skills’ and
‘Vascular Limb Salvage Academy’. He is a member of the vascular FRCS
examination body
