About
Gerassimos Lascaratos is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He is an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at King’s College London and is an internationally recognised expert in his field.
Mr Lascaratos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is also a member of the European Glaucoma Society and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is the recipient of multiple national and international awards and prides himself on delivering the highest quality patient care with a focus on patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Mr Lascaratos specialises in the medical, laser and surgical management of all types of adult glaucoma, including trabeculectomy and aqueous shunt devices, cutting-edge minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and complex cataract surgery, especially in patients with glaucoma.
His cataract complication rate is less than 0.5 per cent, which is way below the national average, despite the complexity of the operations he performs. He also offers premium intraocular lenses, including toric lenses to correct astigmatism, and multifocal lenses to reduce spectacle dependence for near and distance.
Mr Lascaratos completed the South Thames surgical training programme in ophthalmology in London and the highly sought-after subspecialty glaucoma fellowship programme at Moorfields. He was the Clinical Lead for the ophthalmology urgent referral service at King’s College Hospital for several years and has extensive experience in Ophthalmology.

Other interests
Co-Chief Investigator of the NAMinG Trial, a randomised, placebo-controlled, multicentre, Phase III trial on the role of nicotinamide to delay glaucoma progression. This is funded by a prestigious NIHR Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Grant (£2,028,811).
