About

Mr Edward Calleja is a Consultant Urologist and Clinical Lead at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT), specialising in robotic prostate surgery and minimally invasive urological treatments. Renowned for surgical innovation and a patient-centered ethos, he has introduced pioneering procedures to Sussex and the UK, including the first day-case robotic prostatectomy and Aquablation for benign prostatic hyperplasia at ESHT.

In 2025, he performed the UK’s first day-case robotic prostatectomy with lymph node dissection, significantly reducing recovery times and hospital stays. Mr Calleja’s leadership is shaped by the “Ubuntu” ethos—‘I am because we are’—reflecting his commitment to collaborative, team-based care.
