Mr Douglas Hammond

Mr Douglas Hammond is a dual‑qualified clinician, completing his Dentistry degree at the University of Wales (2000) and his Medical degree at University College London (2007).As a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon, Mr Hammond provides comprehensive care across all aspects of dentoalveolar surgery, including wisdom tooth removal, complex dental extractions, and all levels of sedation. He is also a highly experienced dental implant surgeon. His expertise extends to skin cancer surgery, trauma management, and a wide range of minor skin procedures, such as cyst removal, skin cancer excision, and scar revision.

With more than fifteen years’ experience in professional, elite, and international sport, Mr Hammond has worked across rugby union, rugby league, and cricket with both male and female athletes. He previously served as Head Doctor at Stoke City FC and is currently the First Team Doctor for the England Rugby League team.

Mr Hammond has a strong academic profile, holding a PhD and serving as a national specialist research lead. He supervises multiple PhD students, primarily in the areas of concussion and computational modelling of fractures and biomechanics, and has authored over forty peer‑reviewed publications. His expertise has also contributed to the development of national concussion guidelines within sport.
