About

Mr David Elson is a specialist knee surgeon with extensive training across Scotland, Wrightington and the Northern Deanery. He has also completed UK fellowships focused on joint‑preserving knee surgery, giving him advanced expertise in both biological and reconstructive procedures.

He has a strong interest in treatments that preserve the natural knee joint for as long as possible. His practice includes biological knee surgery such as osteotomy, ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery and cartilage restoration. For patients with more advanced arthritis, he also performs partial and total knee replacements, offering a full range of modern knee treatment options.

Known for his approachable and supportive manner, Mr Elson works closely with his patients to understand their symptoms, lifestyle and goals. He focuses on creating realistic, personalised treatment plans rather than using a one‑size‑fits‑all approach.

Mr Elson’s philosophy:

“I offer a bespoke approach to knee problems, tailored to each patient’s specific needs. If you are too young for a knee replacement, there may be alternative options to help manage your symptoms and preserve your own joint. I aim to communicate clearly about your diagnosis, treatment options, rehabilitation and expected outcomes, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.”

Away from work he enjoy's spending time outdoors and his young children are always keeping him busy.
