About
Mr David Elson is a specialist knee surgeon with comprehensive training across Scotland, Wrightington and the Northern Deanery. He has also completed UK‑based fellowships focused on joint‑preserving surgery of the knee, developing expertise in both biological and reconstructive knee procedures.
Mr Elson has a particular interest in joint‑preserving knee surgery and aims to maintain patients’ natural knee function wherever possible. His practice includes biological knee surgery such as knee osteotomy, ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery and cartilage restoration. For patients with more advanced arthritis, he also performs partial and total knee replacement surgery, offering a full spectrum of modern knee care.
An approachable and personable surgeon, Mr Elson believes strongly in working in partnership with his patients. He takes time to understand each individual’s symptoms, lifestyle and goals, ensuring that treatment plans are realistic, manageable and tailored to the patient rather than a one‑size‑fits‑all approach.
“I offer a bespoke approach to knee problems, tailored to each patient’s specific needs. If you are too young for a knee replacement, there may be alternative options available to manage your symptoms and preserve your own joint. I aim to communicate clearly about your diagnosis, treatment options, rehabilitation and expected outcomes, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.”
