About
Mr McFaul is a highly experienced Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he has been practising since 2010. He provides expert assessment and treatment for a full range of colorectal, gastrointestinal and general surgical conditions, with a strong focus on minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques.
Training & Background
Mr McFaul completed his medical degree at the University of Liverpool before undertaking specialist surgical training across the Mersey region, including Chester, from 1998 onwards.
He has received advanced training in all aspects of gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery. In 2010, he completed a prestigious fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at St Mark’s Hospital, London—a world‑renowned centre for the treatment of intestinal and colorectal disorders.
During this fellowship, he gained extensive experience in:

Research
During his training Mr McFaul undertook a 2-year research post at the University of Liverpool. He was involved in researching inherited cancers and the role of screening in people with a family history. This resulted in an MD higher degree in 2005.
