About

Following training in the North East and fellowships in Australia and North America Mr O’Brien gained experience in all aspects of knee surgery as a consultant of over ten years. His elective practice is solely knee and sports surgery related. Mr O’Brien performs over 160 knee replacements including bilateral simultaneous knee replacements, over 80 ligament reconstructions and 250 arthroscopies a year.

He is able to deal with all aspects of knee related disorders and has a special interest in cartilage regeneration techniques holding an HTA license to carry out autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI).

Mr O’Brien regularly deals with patella femoral conditions including patella dislocations and patellofemoral arthritis
