Mr Angus Arthur

Mr Angus Arthur is a highly respected Consultant Shoulder, Elbow and Upper Limb Surgeon who has been practising in Glasgow since 2009. He completed advanced fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, one of the UK’s leading centres for upper-limb surgery.

As a full-time NHS Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, Mr Arthur specialises in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, shoulder and elbow joint replacement, and the management of complex upper-limb injuries. 

He provides a tertiary referral service for Scotland, offering expert assessment and treatment for patients with challenging or previously unresolved shoulder and elbow conditions.

Clinical expertise

Mr Arthur has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of upper-limb conditions, including:

• Rotator cuff tears, impingement and tendon injuries
• Shoulder instability and recurrent dislocation
• Shoulder and elbow arthritis
• Frozen shoulder and joint stiffness
• Upper-limb fractures and trauma
• Sports-related shoulder and elbow injuries

His background includes working with amateur and professional athletes, and he previously served on ski patrol teams in the UK and abroad, giving him specialist insight into high-impact sporting injuries.

Teaching and professional roles

Mr Arthur is actively involved in surgical education and training. He teaches nationally on:

• Arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery
• Upper-limb trauma management

He also teaches undergraduate medical students and contributes to the regional orthopaedic training programme.

Mr Arthur also provides expert medico-legal opinions for personal injury and clinical negligence cases, offering detailed, evidence-based reports.
