Mr Andrew Ballaro is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital specialising in the management of kidney stones and prostate problems.
Mr Ballaro has been a full time NHS Consultant Urological Surgeon for over 10 years at King George and Queens Hospitals and is highly experienced in the management of all adult urology problems. He has a specialist interest in the management of kidney stones and prostate problems, and performs the most minimally invasive procedures available for kidney stone removal, consistently publishing some of the best surgical outcomes in the country. He also offers a range of treatments for benign prostatic enlargement including laser prostatectomy (HoLEP) and the new Rezūm™ steam treatment.
Mr Ballaro qualified from The Royal Free Hospital Medical School, and undertook basic surgical training in Oxford. After being awarded a Masters degree in Urology, several prestigious research fellowships and an MD from The Institute of Urology at University College London he completed higher urological training on the North London Training Scheme. He is entered on the GMC Specialist Register.
In addition to his clinical interests, Mr Ballaro has an interest in education and research. He has over fifty peer reviewed publications on minimally invasive surgical techniques and basic science. He trains Urologists at all levels and was awarded a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004 for his work on bladder dysfunction. He is co-author of the latest edition of the standard medical student textbook ‘Lecture notes in Urology’.
