About

Mr Andrea Scala has been a Colorectal Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital since 2014. 

He graduated at Federico II University of Naples and subsequently undertook his post-graduate Higher Surgical Training at the London Deanery. After Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) he was selected for the national ACPGBI Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery.

He was awarded a Doctorate of Research in surgical sciences and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

His main expertise lies with the minimally invasive treatment (Laparoscopic and Robotic) of malignant and benign conditions of the colon and rectum, multidisciplinary surgery for locally advanced pelvic malignancies, minimally invasive hernia repair and complex abdominal wall reconstruction for large abdominal wall hernias.

He is a regular faculty member on courses at the MATTU on minimally invasive surgery and treatment of complex abdominal wall hernia, where he also performs live demonstrations. 

He is an accredited colonoscopist for the national Bowel Cancer Screening. He is the Lead for the Colorectal Cancer Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) and the Clinical Director of the Endoscopy Service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
