About
Miss Anna Bridgens is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Her private practice is based at The Portland Hospital, Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital and New Victoria Hospital. She holds an NHS post at St George's Hospital in South West London, a designated Level 1 major trauma centre.
Miss Bridgens has particular expertise in paediatric trauma, congenital and acquired deformities of the hip, limb and foot (including developmental dysplasia of the hip and clubfoot) the orthopaedic care of children with neurodisabilities such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida, and bone infections.
Miss Bridgens is committed to providing high-quality, personalised care, with a focus on developing individualised treatment plans that address the specific needs of each child and their family.
After graduating from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine in 2003, she completed Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Percival Pott Rotation, based at the Royal London Hospital. She went on to complete dedicated Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Evelina London Children's Hospital.
At St George's Hospital, Miss Bridgens leads the orthopaedic management of children with neurodisabilities, alongside her work treating general paediatric orthopaedic conditions and trauma. She has a particular interest in hip dysplasia, clubfoot and complex foot deformities.
She is actively involved in research and has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific papers. Most recently she has become a junior member of the EPOS Neuromuscular study Group.

Research
Her research centres on neuromuscular and complex paediatric orthopaedics, with a focus on developing international consensus guidelines, surgical management strategies, and standardised outcome measures. This includes the development of core outcome sets for orthopaedic interventions in conditions such as spinal dysraphism and clubfoot, designed to improve the quality, consistency and comparability of clinical research.
She is a member of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society Neuromuscular Study Group, leading a global consensus on spinal muscular atrophy, and has played a key role in British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS) project on paediatric flatfoot.
