Dr Varadarajan Baskar is a highly experienced Consultant Endocrinologist and the Clinical Director of the Endocrine Department at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust. With a medical career spanning nearly three decades, Dr Baskar is a specialist in hormone and gland conditions. He provides expert, patient-centred care for individuals dealing with complex or long-term hormonal imbalances, ensuring every patient receives a clear and personalised treatment plan.
His extensive clinical expertise covers a wide range of metabolic and hormonal health issues. Dr Baskar specialises in comprehensive diabetes care, which includes managing general diabetes, weight-related diabetes complications, and diabetic foot conditions.
He also offers specialist care for complex gland disorders affecting the thyroid - including overactive and underactive thyroid, chronic fatigue, and a sluggish metabolism - as well as the adrenal, parathyroid, and pituitary glands, such as cortisol imbalances. Additionally, he treats gonadal disorders, including low testosterone and hormone-related reproductive issues. For patients struggling with severe obesity, Dr Baskar provides medical weight management solutions. As part of this care, he works alongside Slim Without Surgery to support their medical weight loss programmes through the use of weight-loss injections like Saxenda.
Before his current leadership role, Dr Baskar gained valuable international experience as a consultant at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Birmingham, where his advanced research focused on how diabetes interacts with high blood pressure and kidney disease.
