About
Dr Sophia Mooncey is an experienced Consultant Community Paediatrician who has worked in Luton and South Bedfordshire since 2001.
Her experience ranges from newborn intensive care to neurodevelopmental and neurodiversity. She has vast experience in assessing and diagnosing autism, syndrome, ADHD, dyspraxia and developmental issues.
She understands that diagnoses have a lifelong effect on families and is keen to provide the best support for children and their families.
She believes early intervention is key to helping children lead a healthy lifestyle, accessing appropriate education and becoming valuable members of our society.
Dr Mooncey sees paediatrics from birth to 19 years of age.
Clinical roles
She is the Medical Adviser for Children in care and sits on the Luton and Bedford Adoption panels. She provides support for families and schools, for children with special needs and works with schools to support children with additional needs.
Her previous experience involved working in London hospitals to complete her CCST (specialist training) in paediatrics. She has also carried out neonatal research and presented papers at international meetings.

She believes in the importance of family, and her children and husband have been supportive and inspirational towards the care of her patients.
