About
Dr Shirine Boardman is a Consultant Physician specialising in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Internal Medicine, with more than 35 years of clinical experience. She completed her specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology on the prestigious Oxford rotation and undertook diabetes research with the University of Oxford's Diabetes Research Laboratories. She currently works as a Consultant within the Acute Medicine team at Grantham and District Hospital, where she delivers NHS Diabetes and Endocrinology clinics. In addition, she provides specialist private endocrinology care at Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital in Leamington Spa.
Dr Boardman offers expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions, including hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, obesity, weight management and other hormonal disorders. She has particular expertise in the management of complex thyroid conditions, especially patients who continue to experience symptoms despite standard levothyroxine treatment.
Dr Boardman has previously been nominated for a number of national awards (HSJ awards) due to valuable services developed for patients on the NHS.
In addition to thyroid and diabetes care, Dr Boardman regularly investigates and manages conditions such as fatigue, insulin resistance, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, calcium disorders, hormone imbalances and general medical concerns that may require specialist endocrine assessment. Her approach is centred on providing personalised, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient's individual needs and health goals.
Dr Boardman has a longstanding interest in women's hormonal health and was recognised through HSJ award nominations for developing innovative services for women with PCOS and for improving diabetes care. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians.
She welcomes referrals from patients across Warwickshire, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Rugby, Stratford-upon-Avon, Kenilworth and the wider West Midlands region seeking expert care for thyroid disease, diabetes, weight management and hormone-related conditions.
