About
Dr Murugiah Seevaratnam is an experienced Consultant Physician specialising in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He completed his medical degree at Colombo University in Sri Lanka, where he also played first‑class cricket as a wicketkeeper. Balancing elite sport with medical training gave him valuable insight into performing under pressure, maintaining focus and motivating others — qualities that continue to shape his clinical practice.
Following postgraduate training posts in Norfolk, Enfield, Northampton and Southampton University Hospitals, he was appointed Consultant Physician at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. Since 2014, he has worked exclusively in private practice. He keeps his clinical knowledge up to date through regular participation in medical conferences, clinical governance meetings and continuing professional development.
As an Acute Physician managing unselected medical admissions, Dr Seevaratnam has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions affecting the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, neurological and haematological systems in adults aged 18 and over.
Within the NHS, he has held several senior leadership roles, including:

- Medical Lead, Ethics Committee
He also provides general medical cover for post‑operative patients in hospitals where he holds practising privileges.

Seeva is married and has a son. An outstanding wicket keeper, he played first class and representative cricket in Sri Lanka. He also played Middlesex County league cricket. Besides sport and keeping fit, he enjoys food, wine and music.
