Dr Michelle Sowden

Dr Michelle Sowden has over 30 years’ experience supporting patients with physical health conditions through tailored psychological care. She works closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and dieticians to help patients navigate treatment, recovery and rehabilitation.

After qualifying in 1993, Dr Sowden gained experience in both community and acute mental health settings before joining Frimley Park Hospital in 1995, where she specialised in the psychological care of patients with physical health challenges. Over the next two decades, she established and led a dedicated clinical health psychology service, supporting patients across a wide range of specialties—including cancer, chronic pain, intensive care, gastroenterology, neurology, obstetrics, gynaecology, and cardiac and respiratory care.

In recognition of her expertise, Dr Sowden was awarded Consultant status by the British Psychological Society in 2001. Since moving into full-time private practice in 2018, she continues to offer compassionate, evidence-based psychological support tailored to each patient’s needs.
