About
Dr Matt Stubbs is a widely acclaimed Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia with broad expertise in managing complex pain conditions. He graduated with first-class honours from UCL and received triple distinction in Medicine from Bart’s & The Royal London. He trained in London and Wessex, earning fellowships from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
Dr Stubbs completed advanced fellowship training at Guy’s & St Thomas’, specialising in spinal, neuropathic, musculoskeletal, and complex pain conditions including CRPS and fibromyalgia. He also developed specialist expertise in headaches, facial pain and neuromodulation.
Known for his warm yet innovative approach, and is actively involved in research, education, and leadership, serving as Faculty Tutor in Pain Medicine and co-chairing the YI Council of the International Society of Pain & Neuromodulation.
He has practised in Wessex since 2015, where he co-founded the Wessex Pain Clinic. His NHS base is in Portsmouth, where he lives with his family.
Dr Stubbs is known for his compassionate, holistic care, helping patients regain their quality of life through personalised, evidence-based treatment.
