About
Dr Khalid Khan is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist with a broad range of interests and expertise. Born in Yorkshire, he was latterly educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield before studying Medicine at St John’s College, Cambridge. After early training in Newcastle and Cambridgeshire, he trained in Leicester where he was awarded a BHF Junior Research Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology. He completed his senior training in Liverpool with dual accreditation in Cardiology and General Medicine and was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist and General Physician in 2005. In his NHS role he has developed a number of award winning pioneering cardiology services.
He has considerable expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of symptoms of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and dizziness or blackouts and of cardiovascular risk evaluation. He has extensive experience and interest in the comprehensive management of coronary heart disease (angina, heart attacks), cardiac risk assessment, hypertension and hypotension (high and low blood pressure), cardiac arrhythmias (e.g. atrial fibrillation, other tachycardias, bradycardias), heart failure, valvular heart disease, POTS, cardiomyopathies and other inherited cardiac conditions.
An Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University since 2009, he is deeply committed to undergraduate and postgraduate education of medical students, doctors and other allied health care professionals.
