Dr Wood graduated from Medical School in 1996, studying at the University of Cambridge and the Royal Free and University College Medical School in London. Her oncology training began in 2000. During her period of training she was awarded an MD from the University of London for her work on the use of radiological tracers to identify radiation-resistant areas within tumours.
She treats patients with head and neck, urological and thyroid malignancies employing a variety of the most up-to-date techniques including intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), often combined with chemotherapy, biological agents or hormonal therapy. Dr Wood also has expertise in the use of radio-iodine treatment for thyroid cancer.

Research
MD awarded for use of 64-Cu-ATSM in PET scanning to identify areas of radiation resistance within head and neck cancer tumour models.
Dr Wood is involved in supervising MD Fellows evaluating the use of PET-CT scanning to identify regions within a tumour to dose-escalate with radiotherapy.
Currently she a Principal investigator in a number of different national studies evaluating novel treatments for head and neck and urological malignancies.
