Dr Imtiaz Ahmed

Dr Imtiaz Ahmed is a highly accomplished Consultant Neurologist who provides specialist care at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. He has been practising since 1995, bringing more than three decades of clinical and academic experience to the diagnosis and management of complex neurological disorders.

Dr Ahmed specialises in a wide range of neurological conditions, with particular expertise in Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementia, cerebrovascular disease, headache, and general neurology. He also has advanced skills in treating cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, spasticity, and sialorrhoea in Parkinson’s disease.

He completed his MBBS in India in 1995, followed by clinical research into Stroke in the Young, which led to the award of an MD in 2001. After moving to the UK, he undertook extensive training in General Medicine, Stroke, and Parkinson’s disease within the Cambridge Deanery, and later conducted research in Parkinson’s disease, dementia and dyskinesias at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College London.

Dr Ahmed further trained at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, one of the world’s leading neuroscience centres. He was awarded an MD (Res) and Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) from Imperial College London, and completed his Specialist Neurology Training in the Severn Deanery (Bristol).

He received MRCP (Neurology) in 2010 and completed a prestigious Fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology in Zurich, Switzerland. In 2012, he was made a Fellow of the European National Board (FENB).

Dr Ahmed currently holds an NHS consultant post at Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust, where he is also actively involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the European Neurology Society, and the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS).
