Dr Debashish Das

I'm a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (St Barts) and Whipps Cross Hospital, where I currently serve as Clinical Lead for Cardiology.

I specialise in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of heart disease, offering comprehensive care across all areas of adult cardiology.

My particular areas of expertise include:

• Coronary artery disease
• Heart failure
• Cardiovascular risk prevention.

I evaluate and treats patients presenting with a wide range of cardiovascular symptoms, including:

• Chest pain (angina)
• Shortness of breath
• Palpitations
• Ankle swelling
• Dizziness or fainting (syncope)

I ensure that appropriate investigations are organised promptly to enable accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

In addition, I provide detailed assessments for individuals without symptoms but at increased risk of heart disease, such as those with:

• Diabetes
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• A family history of cardiovascular disease.

I develop personalised management plans to reduce future risk and support long-term cardiovascular health.

Education

I completed my cardiology training at leading London teaching hospitals, including The London Chest Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

I was awarded an MD (Res) by University College London (UCL) for his research into ischaemia-reperfusion injury.

Teaching and leadership

I'm an active contributor to the cardiology field, regularly lecturing at national and international conferences, and serve on the management board of the British Cardiac Society.
