About
Dr Pastacaldi is an experienced allergy specialist with over 20 years’ expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and therapy of a wide range of allergic conditions. These include food allergy, anaphylaxis, hay fever, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, as well as chronic urticaria and angioedema. She provides comprehensive allergy clinics, offering tailored management plans to support both paediatric and adult patients.
She began her career in Italy, qualifying as an MD at the University of Genoa, before specialising in Paediatrics at the Gaslini Children’s Hospital. Following her move to the UK in 2002, she established a Paediatric Allergy Service at Singleton Hospital in Swansea, enhancing access to specialist allergy assessment and screening services.
Dr Pastacaldi obtained an MSc in Allergy from the University of Southampton in 2009 and has contributed to clinical research, with publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
She has previously worked as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton and as a Fixed Term Consultant at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. She now practises exclusively in the private sector.
Allergy investigations, including diagnostic blood tests and skin prick testing, are carried out with the support of the nursing team at Nuffield Health Brighton. Where required, children are referred to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital for further specialist care.

Research
Dr Pastacaldi’s research interests focused on clinical research in the area of allergy and respiratory diseases, which resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has conducted a systematic review and meta analysis of studies investigating the role of staphilococcus aureus superantigens in the pathogenesis of allergic respiratory diseases. She has also participated in multicentre studies on the treatment and management of allergic conditions in children. Between 2011 and 2015 she was member of the Asthma and Allergy Research Development Group for Swansea University.
