Dr Ashish Arora

Dr Ashish Arora is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 30 years’ experience in psychiatry, including over 20 years as an NHS Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry with Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. He has held a private practice at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital since 2004.

He sees adults with depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis and stress-related difficulties, and provides second opinions, medication reviews and assessments for psychological therapy. Where it helps, he combines medication with psychological support, and he works closely with a network of psychologists and therapists. He places great importance on clear explanations and shared decisions about treatment.

Dr Arora has extensive experience of the Mental Health Act and mental capacity law. He is approved under Section 12 and as an Approved Clinician, and is involved in the assessment of complex cases at a national level. He also provides independent psychiatric reports for personal injury, clinical negligence and employment matters.

Education

Dr Arora obtained his MRCPsych in 1998 and completed higher specialist training in the Oxford Deanery and Leicester. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry.

Academia and leadership

He has a long-standing commitment to medical education and has served as Training Programme Director for higher psychiatry trainees and as Postgraduate Medical Education Lead in Leicestershire.
