About
Dr. Rodrigues is a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist and Clinical Epileptologist. He undertakes nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) tests. Common indications for these include carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve compression across the elbow, peripheral neuropathy and cervical radiculopathies. Dr Rodrigues also undertakes injection therapy for dystonia. He also has trained staff that can record brain activity (EEG) and he then analyses the data. The EEG is often useful in confirming or excluding a diagnosis of epilepsy.
Nerve conduction studies involve electrical stimulation of peripheral nerves and an analysis of the recorded responses. EMG involves an analysis of muscle activity with a needle inserted into it.
Dr. Rodrigues undertook his specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm and did a fellowship in epilepsy at Kings College Hospital in London. He is currently a member of the Royal College of Physicians (London), British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology and International League Against Epilepsy.
He currently works part time at the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and in private practice in hospitals and GP clinics across the north- west. He has held a substantive Consultant post at Walton Centre Foundation Trust. Besides clinical work, Dr. Rodrigues teaches medical students, registrars and technical staff. He has been active in epilepsy research in the past.

Personal interests
In his free time he enjoys sports and travelling. He used to be a keen cricket player and has more recently taken up tennis.
