Woking Hospital FAQs

  • How do I get an appointment to see a consultant?
If you are paying for your treatment yourself, you can book an appointment with a consultant directly online. If you are using Private Medical Insurance (PMI), your insurer may require a referral letter from your GP before booking. Once you have your referral, you can arrange your initial consultation online. Please note that a GP referral is required for some medical specialties.
  • How long would it take me to get an appointment?
We aim to offer private patients an appointment within just a few days, at a time that works best for you. Our clinics offer flexible scheduling so you can choose appointment times that fit around your daily commitments.
  • Can I see a consultant for an appointment after work or at the weekend?
Yes. Our outpatient services operate from 06:30–20:00 Monday to Friday and 06:30–14:00 on Saturdays, offering early morning, daytime, and evening appointments for your convenience. If you have recently had surgery and your consultant needs to see you urgently, this will be arranged through our out‑of‑hours team. The hospital is open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, ensuring consistent access to care.
  • Do you offer treatment for children?
No. Paediatric services are not available at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital, and we are unable to provide treatment for patients under 18.
  • Would my surgery be conducted by a junior doctor?
No. All care at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital is consultant‑led. Your appointments, surgery, and follow‑up care will be carried out by your consultant, ensuring continuity and the highest level of clinical expertise.
  • What are your hospital infection rates?
We maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention. Through strict cleaning protocols and comprehensive monitoring, our rates of infections such as MRSA and C. difficile remain extremely low. This means the risk of infection for our patients is very minimal.
  • When can my family visit if I’m an inpatient?
Visiting hours are 14:00–20:00. Your recovery is our priority, and many patients feel tired after surgery, so we kindly ask visitors to leave by 20:00 to ensure you have the rest you need.
  • What is the age limit for visitors?
We ask that children under the age of 12 do not visit, as the hospital environment may not always be suitable for younger visitors and rest is essential for recovery. However, we understand that exceptional circumstances can arise. If this applies to you, please speak with the nurse in charge on the day of admission — we will always do our best to support you and your family.
  • Is there parking available?
Yes. Free and accessible parking is available onsite. During peak times, parking may be limited, so we encourage you to arrive a little early. Please register your number plate at Reception when you arrive. Disabled parking bays are also provided close to the entrance.
  • Is there accommodation nearby where my family can stay?
