Maggie’s Cambridge helps people to achieve the best possible state of psychological and physical health throughout their cancer journey.

Its Cambridge Centre has been providing high quality, evidence-based support since 2013 in the local area. People across Cambridgeshire and beyond can come to Maggie’s as any stage of their cancer journey.

Evidence shows that an uplifting environment can reduce stress and anxiety. Maggie’s is designed to feel more like a home than a hospital, with no reception desk, no signs on the wall, no name badges and a big kitchen table at their heart. This approach supports the informal relationships between staff and visitors, and is an important part of the unique support we offer.

Maggie’s Centre is located at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and is staffed by Cancer Support Specialists, a Benefits Advisor, Nutritionist, Therapists and a Psychologist who can support people in whichever way best suits their needs.

Maggie’s Cambridge is a place to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; a place where qualified experts provide emotional support; a place to meet other people in a similar situation or simply to sit quietly with a cup of tea. You don’t need an appointment – just drop in. The Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

Maggie’s also provides support for family and friends, at Nuffield Health Hospital in Cambridge. The drop-in service sign posts visitors to the Maggie’s Centre at Addenbrooke’s for access to the full programme.

There is a strong partnership between the Nuffield and Maggie’s. Our Cancer Support Specialists integrate with members of the medical team, nursing team and ward staff. The hospital has also contributed to support our fundraising through promotional events.

The Maggie’s room is located within the hospital building, near the Oncology Suite.
