Dr Raby trained in radiology at Kings College and Guys Hospital London and was appointed consultant radiologist in Glasgow 1992.
He is a full time 'specialist musculoskeletal radiologist'. He led and developed the musculoskeletal service particularly in the use of MRI. He has pioneered the use of MRI in wrist trauma.
Dr Raby has been radiologist to the Scottish Bone Tumour service for 18 years and is head of undergraduate radiology at the University of Glasgow.
Research:
Dr Raby has published 50 papers and written several book chapters.
Other interests:
Special interest in MRI of spine, knee, shoulder, hip and other joints. Bone and soft tissue tumours.
Organiser of the Scottish MRI and Imaging course for 15 years
Organiser of training course in A&E radiology for more than 20 years
Author of A&E Radiology: A survival guide
Dr Raby has given more than 100 lectures to learned societies throughout the UK.
