About
Mr Peter Cooke is a highly respected urological surgeon and cancer specialist at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. He also serves as the Clinical Lead for Urology across the Black Country and West Birmingham Integrated Care System. His leadership background includes roles such as Clinical Director of the Urology Department, Chair of the Trust Senior Medical Staff Committee, Chair of the West Midlands Cancer Alliance Urology Expert Advisory Group, Chair of the Specialist Multidisciplinary Team, and membership of the Trust Cancer Board.
Mr Cooke is widely recognised as the leading robotic urological surgeon in the Midlands. He has personally carried out around 2,000 complex robotic operations, including a consistently high annual volume of robotic radical prostatectomies (over 100 cases per year). This places him among the most experienced prostate cancer surgeons in the UK. He was listed among the top 20 prostate cancer surgeons in the country in the Daily Mail Good Doctor Guide (2018). NHS data from 2021 showed his complication rates were within the best 5% nationally, and in 2022, his team achieved the shortest hospital stay in the UK for both prostatectomy and cystectomy (bladder removal).
Mr Cooke’s practice focuses on precision surgery, patient safety and excellent outcomes, supported by a strong record of leadership and innovation in urological cancer care.
He also offers Aquablation therapy at Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital. This is the latest robotic, minimally invasive treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition where the prostate enlarges and causes urinary symptoms.
