Dr Stuart Packham has been a Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine since 1999. He qualified from the University of Aberdeen and undertook his postgraduate training in a number of centres including Aberdeen, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle and Llandough Hospital, Cardiff.
In addition he held an appointment as a Research Registrar at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA where he studied ventilation in patients with COPD, congenital hypoventilation syndrome and patients pre and post lung transplantation. He was previously a Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading before returning to Wales and currently works for ABM University Health Board. He runs a sleep clinic which specialises in the investigation and treatment of sleep disordered breathing including Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
Other interests:
Stuart has developed a busy practice in Respiratory Medicine seeing patients with a variety of chest conditions including Asthma and Allergy, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema), Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Lung Cancer and Chronic Cough and Breathlessness.
Dr Packham has an interest in the management of Persistent Cough and was a member of the British Thoracic Society Standards of Care sub-group that produced national guidelines for the investigation and treatment of this common disorder.
