About
Professor Bhatia is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester with a private practice at Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. He enjoys teaching and is a Professor at De Montfort University, Leicester, and an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester. Professor Bhatia has been elected to the European Foot and Ankle Society Council and is one of the key decision-makers regarding the future of foot and ankle surgery in Europe.
Professor Bhatia is passionate about foot and ankle research and education, and plays an active role as a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) and the Education Committee of the British Foot Ankle Society (BOFAS). He has written three books in the fields of foot and ankle surgery, joint injections, and Orthopaedic education for Primary care, which have been translated into international languages. One of these books won the prestigious BMA best book award in 2021.
Professor Bhatia is the founder and director of the British European Foot Ankle Academy (BEOFAA), a global teaching forum featuring some of the best faculty from Europe and the United Kingdom. So far, BEOFAA has trained 150 surgeons from more than 30 countries.
Professor Bhatia specialises in foot and ankle surgery including bunion surgery, failed bunion surgery, minimally invasive foot surgery, lesser toe deformity correction, hallux rigidus, morton's neuroma, rheumatoid foot reconstruction, arthroscopy of the ankle, sports injuries (ankle stability), deformity correction, midfoot and hindfoot fusions, arthroscopic ankle fusion, achilles, peroneal, tibialis posterior tendon disorders and ankle replacement.
