Arthroplasty

Arthroplasty is a surgical procedure to repair or replace a damaged or diseased joint.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome happens when the nerve that crosses the front of your wrist (the median nerve) is trapped causing pain, numbness, tingling and weakness in the hand and arm. The nerve passes through the carpal tunnel, a canal in the wrist that carries all the tendons of the hand. If these tendons are swollen, the nerve is squeezed and becomes trapped.

Cartilage reconstruction

Cartilage is the thin tissue that covers bone surfaces providing smooth, friction free movement.

Cubital tunnel release

The ulnar nerve goes round the back of the inner side of your elbow (sometimes called your funny bone). It then goes through a tight tunnel between the forearm muscles.

Dry needling

Dry needling is a technique used to treat calcific tendonitis to break the calcium up that forms in tendons.

Image guided joint injections

If your swollen or painful joints, ligaments or tendons do not respond to conservative treatments your consultant may recommend image guided joint injections.

Joint resurfacing

Joint surfaces damaged by wear and tear or arthritis may be able to be resurfaced.

Manipulation under anaesthesia (MUA)

Under general anaesthetic your surgeon will move your stiff joint to a full range of motion, stretching the surrounding muscles and freeing the joint capsule.

Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment (PRP)

PRP treatment uses a patient's own blood to promote the healing of injured tendons, joints, muscles and ligaments.

Shoulder decompression - keyhole surgery

Shoulder decompression (or subacromial depression) is an operation to cleaning and repair damaged tendons around the upper arm and shoulder area.

Shoulder manipulation is a treatment for frozen shoulder, that consists of stretching and releasing the shoulder capsule.

Shoulder replacement

Your shoulder is a ball and socket joint. The top of your arm (humerus) fits into a socket (glenoid). Wear and tear or an injury can result in pain and restricted movement in the joint.

Shoulder Stabilisation

If you have a dislocated shoulder, this operation repairs the lining of the damaged shoulder joint to make it stable again.

Shoulder surgery (rotator cuff repair)

The rotator cuff is formed of four tendons and the adjacent muscles that attach your arm to the top of your shoulder blade, which gives the shoulder stability and control. Tears to the rotator cuff tendon can occur for many reasons including acute injury, overuse or normal age-related changes.
