Sports Cardiovascular Screening

In response to a number of tragic, high profile cases and guidance issued by many international medical and sports bodies, there is an increasing recognition that there is a largely unaddressed need to deliver specialist cardiovascular screening for those individuals that wish to participate in competitive sports. Such screening is recognised as a means of identifying individuals at high potential risk of sudden cardiac death during sporting activities. Some major sporting organisations have identified the importance of cardiovascular screening for their elite athletes and a few have already initiated screening programmes.

Our Cardiologist, supported by a full range of diagnostic tests, has established a service specifically to provide specialist cardiovascular screening and we would encourage individual athletes and/or teams to consider utilising this important service.

Pathology

An essential part of making a clinical diagnosis can be the use of the haematology and biochemistry blood test department. Your consultant may have requested for you to have a blood test as part of your diagnosis and treatment, our nursing team will receive and process your blood samples quickly and report back to your consultant, often within hours of having the blood test. Our team processes and reports on the full range of blood diagnostic tests, including complete haematological testing, coagulation tests, biochemistry screening, liver function, thyroid function and many other specialist blood tests.
