Recovery Plus is Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital’s flagship recovery programme. It's available free of charge for specific procedures as part of our commitment to getting you back on your feet faster.
Join our unique 12 week assisted exercise programme at Nuffield Health Bristol Fitness & Wellbeing Gym
It's available for certain procedures following completion of your formal post-operative physiotherapy with one of our physiotherapists.
The programme is part of your treatment package for both insured and self-paying patients and will allow you to attain a higher level of function and if appropriate, sport-specific fitness. So you’ll be doing everything you can to maximise your recovery.
Don't worry if you've not exercised for a while or you're nervous about going to the gym. Your recovery coach will be on hand to support and guide you through your programme.
Recovery Plus at Nuffield Health Bristol includes:
- A 12-week membership at Nuffield Health Bristol Fitness and Wellbeing Gym - 7 minutes walk from our hospital
- 4 sessions with a dedicated, experienced and specially trained recovery coach
- A Health MOT at the start and the end of the programme
Recovery Plus will be discussed with you at your pre-admission appointment, and at the end of your outpatient physiotherapy sessions you will be referred onto the programme if you are suitable and agree to undergo it.

My interest in health and fitness began whilst I was competing in gymnastics, nationally and internationally. During this time I learnt a great deal about the importance of core strength, flexibility and improving general wellbeing.
Exercise should always be something you can enjoy, and with the Recovery Plus training sessions we work closely with physiotherapists to give our patients a bespoke programme that will help you to recover from surgery quickly and efficiently.
My interest in health and fitness began when I played sport as a youngster. I have been working as a personal trainer for 6 years and specialise in health and weight loss. I enjoy working with our Recovery Plus patients because it is great to see how quickly they progress.
Many of my patients have never even stepped into a gym so it’s very encouraging to see them gaining in confidence and improving their overall health and wellbeing.
I have always been a keen sportswoman and so it was natural progression for me to become a Personal Trainer 3 years ago and help others find enjoyment in keeping fit and healthy. I specialise in endurance coaching, weight training for beginners and fat loss.
Recovery Plus is a really rewarding programme to be involved with as patients have very clear goals and are highly motivated to achieve them.
