Referral Criteria: Patients requiring oncological opinion or management. Second opinions particularly for Breast Cancer where Professor Brunt is regarded as a national expert.

Professor Brunt was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in 1991.  He is a recognised national expert in the field of breast cancer oncology with a wide experience of national and international trials, sometimes as the UK lead investigator.  Professor Brunt is an expert providing radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and biological therapy both for breast cancer and skin cancer.  Radiotherapy is provided at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire Cancer Centre and the other treatments at the North Staffordshire Nuffield Hospital, or where appropriate at home.

Professor Brunt is the Cancer research Lead for the NIHR-CRN West Midlands, national lead for the breast cancer electronic speciality group at the Royal College of Radiologists, was on the NICE advanced breast cancer guideline group and on the National Cancer Information Network (NCIN) breast speciality group.

Dr Brunt is a very active researcher with an Honorary contract at Keele University in addition.  He is currently Chief Investigator (national lead) for the largest national radiotherapy breast cancer study called FAST Forward.  Professor Brunt is also the UK Chief investigator for a melanoma study into Chemotherapy and a breast cancer study using biological therapy. His many publications come predominately from the over 60 trials that he has been involved with over the last 20 years.  Professor Brunt is the clinical lead of the University Hospital of North Staffordshire Cancer Clinical Trials Unit.
