Professor Ashley Dennison is a General Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. Professor Dennison is a Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the University of Leicester. Professor Dennison was appointed as a consultant general surgeon in Leicester in 1994 with a special interest in surgery of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas. Professor Ashley Dennison trained in liver and pancreas surgery with Professor Leslie Blumgart in Berne, Switzerland, Professor Henri Bismuth in Paris and Professor Rudolf Pichylmayr in Hannover.
Professor Ashley Dennison has unrivalled experience in complex, major surgery for malignancies of the liver and pancreas, has one of the largest experiences in the UK of ERCP (endoscopic removal of gallstones) and surgical treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Since 1994 he has run a programme of total pancreatectomy and islet autotransplantation for the treatment of intractable pain from chronic pancreatitis which is the largest series outside the USA.

Professor Dennison is a past President of the Pancreatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, past President of the Great Britain, and Ireland Hepatopancreaticobiliary Association, previous National HPB lead on the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. Presently he isChair of the East Midlands Clinical Senate, Chair of the Midlands Clinical Advisory Group and have recently been awarded a Visiting Personal Chair at PUMC Hospital in Beijing.
