He completed Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology after graduation in medical sciences in India. He subsequently obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1993) and completed a registrar rotation at Bristol Eye Hospital (2008). He also completed a 3 year research degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) after submitting a dissertation on inhibiting/ retarding cataractogenesis at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston (2004).
He has a special interest in glaucoma, having completed Fellowship at Bristol Eye Hospital and Senior Glaucoma Fellowship at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, followed by a visiting Fellowship at Vissum Mirasiera Eye institute, Madrid, Spain, to gain exposure to non-penetrating and angle implant glaucoma surgeries, before starting as consultant ophthalmologist at Queen’s Hospital, Burton, SRP Hospital, Tamworth and SJH Hospital, Lichfield.
His emphasis is on quality care for his patients. Having performed more than 200 cataract surgeries and 100 glaucoma surgeries in the past year, his audited results demonstrate a success rate above the national average. He is involved in training junior doctors at Queen’s Hospital, Burton, as a College Tutor. He values good communication and patient satisfaction is his utmost priority.
