Mr Scotcher studied at Bristol University. He obtained a first class degree in Anatomical Science in 1984, and qualified as a doctor in 1987. After three years of post-graduate training in acute general medicine, he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1990.
He commenced his training in ophthalmology at the Southampton Eye Hospital, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1993. Higher specialist training was obtained on the West Midlands Specialist Registrar Rotation, based around the Birmingham and Midlands Eye Hospital. After a year working as an exchange registrar in Brisbane, Australia, he then completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology, at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital in 1999. Mr Scotcher took up his appointment as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Hereford in 2000.
Mr Scotcher is happy see to patients with any ophthalmic condition, including cataract, glaucoma, squint, (strabismus), age-related macular degeneration, dry and watery eyes, and minor lid disorders.
Mr Scotcher is the RCOphth College Tutor for the Victoria Eye Unit at Hereford County Hospital. He has a major interest in under-graduate and post-graduate training. He is joint Programme Director for the West Midands School of Ophthalmology.
