Mr Mustafa was born in Chiswick, West London then moved to Iraq with his parents where he lived and studied until he qualified top of his class from Baghdad University College of Dentistry.
He moved back to the UK to pursue his surgical career. He studied Medicine in Cardiff and graduated from the University of Wales with Distinction.
He trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on the South Wales training scheme and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS)
During his training, he developed an interest in Cranio-Maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction of congenital, acquired and post-traumatic facial deformity.
He secured a highly respected AO fellowship in Hannover, Germany spending part of his training with world experts in the field of surgical navigation of the Head and Neck, endoscopic and computer-assisted surgery. He also secured a European travel scholarship spending time at the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Baltimore, Maryland USA.
He completed a National Fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Facial Surgery where he spent time with leading UK surgeons in the field of Rhinoplasty and Cosmetic Facial Surgery both at Harley Street as well as Guys Hospital London and the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford encompassing both aspects of private and public sector healthcare.
