Mr Sauvé graduated as a doctor from Imperial College, School of Medicine at St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London in 1998. He undertook higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery locally in Hampshire and Dorset and undertook fellowship training at The Hand Unit, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and then at the prestigious Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Derby,
Awarded the Educational Prize and a Travelling Fellowship by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Mr Sauve visited clinics in France on a wrist arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) tour arranged by the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society (EWAS).
Mr Sauve works closely with a hand therapy team. The therapists provide advice to patients on the day-to-day management of various hand conditions or injuries and guide patients through their postoperative rehabilitation. They also fabricate thermoplastic splints in the hand therapy clinic. Mr Sauvé can refer you to the hand therapy team following a clinic consultation or surgery.
Mr Sauvé specialises in the following treatments at Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital:
Mr Sauve has a strong clinical research interest. His projects have been presented nationally and internationally at specialist orthopaedic and hand society meetings. This research has also been published in international peer review journals. As well as teaching the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons locally, Mr Sauve teaches on national courses at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby and at the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
Having represented his country at schoolboy rugby and played semi-professional rugby whilst a medical student it was inevitable that he fulfilled this medical stereotype and followed a career in orthopaedic surgery. Now that his rugby playing days are over Mr Sauvé spends time with his wife and family encouraging his children in their own sporting activities. At other times you may find him running the trails around Winchester and the Itchen valley or mountain biking the South Downs Way. As an orthopaedic surgeon his real problem is that he is no good at golf!
